The quest for equality is beset with many obstacles that have their origins in both systemic and societal problems. On a societal level, equal chances and results are hampered by deeply rooted prejudices, discrimination, and historical injustices. These problems take many different forms, including racial inequalities, economic injustices, and gender inequality. In addition, institutional frameworks and systemic policies have the potential to maintain or worsen already-existing disparities.
