The creation of the independent state of Tripura brought with it expectations for the state's social, economic, and educational advancement. Almost sixty years of sacrifices and protracted efforts later, the people of Tripura realized they should have their own state. North-eastern India was greatly impacted by Christian missions. This influence, along with western (British) colonization, created a synergy that altered the Northeast's whole topography. The study also examines the effects of colonization by the Hindu faith in Northeast India, a process that predates both Christian missions and western colonization.
